David Drebin was born in 1970 in Toronto, Canada, and graduated in 1996 from Parson School of Design in New York. He is well known for his commercial photography since he shot ad campaigns for a variety of brands and many magazines, among which Vanity Fair, GQ, Elle and Rolling Stone. His work is featured by a sensual yet confusing feeling which is arisen by the view of a woman posing in an impressive surrounding like the big cities of New York, Tokyo or Paris. As Drebing investigates on the concept of identity and of intimate world, the viewer feels to be intruding in the scene sometimes as a voyeur, sometimes as a movie spectator, and is pushed to wonder about what he is watching. As he stated in an interview, even when in a fashion shooting what he focuses on is the story of the subject, and the clothes and accessories just help shaping the image. Moreover, in Drebin’s photography the light plays a relevant role and is accurately studied in order to minimize the manipulation of the image. Not to forget are also the amazing shoots of landscapes.
